Checklist for Choosing a Quality Child Care Program
At Wonder Years Learning Center LLC, we understand that choosing a child care program is a very important decision for all families. We have created a list of questions to help you evaluate the programs you are considering. We encourage you to visit other centers, ask questions and compare each program carefully so that you can be sure they will meet your family’s needs.
- Do you have an open-door policy?
- What are the hours of operation?
- Does the center offer full- and part-time programs?
- On what dates is the center closed for holidays and other events?
- What is the latest time I can bring my child to school?
- What are the center's policies regarding:
a. Children who are sick?
b. Discipline and behavior management?
c. Late pickup (after closing time)?
d. Someone other than the parent picking up the child?
e. Administration of medication?
f. Inclement weather?
g. Children with allergies?
h. Accidents or injuries?
i. General operating procedures? - What are the qualifications of the staff?
- How long has the staff been at the center?
- Is the staff first aid and CPR trained?
- What is the staff-member-to-child ratio?
- Do you follow a curriculum?
- What is the tuition rate?
- When is tuition paid?
- Do I pay tuition if my child is absent due to illness or vacations?
- What type of payment is accepted?
- Is there a registration fee?
- Is registration required yearly?
- Are there any other fees due throughout the year?
- What is my responsibility upon arrival to the center?
- What do I need to supply for my child?
- What will the center supply for my child?
- Does the center help with potty training?
- How does the staff communicate with parents?
- May I have a copy of parent references?
- Will the center provide written copies of policies and procedures for the school?
